About Charlotte

My Philosophy

From a young age, my passion has always been child, youth, & family therapy. I strive to help each of my clients find their best selves through a variety of techniques and strategies including traditional talk therapy, art therapy and play therapy.  I recognize the innate wisdom and expertise that each individual possesses and work collaboratively with my clients to support them in meeting their goals.  My work is grounded primarily in mindfulness and acceptance-based approaches and I enjoy creatively modifying these to suit my clients' needs.

My interest in counselling began when I was a young child and had an amazing counsellor of my own.  I decided then that I wanted to help children and families and have been on this path ever since!

After receiving my Bachelor of Social Work with Child Welfare specialization and a minor in Psychology from the University of Victoria in 2010, I went on to complete my Master of Arts degree in Counselling Psychology from Yorkville University which included a clinical internship in child, youth and family trauma therapy.

My professional experience began in 2005 when I volunteered as a support worker at a transition house for women and children fleeing abusive relationships.  In addition to my private practice, I have been working as a withdrawal management counsellor at a youth detox facility, part of the Victoria Youth Empowerment Society, since 2008 and as a child and family therapist at the Victoria Child Abuse Prevention and Counselling Center since 2015.  My love of this work continues to grow as each year passes!

Originally from Newfoundland, I moved to beautiful Victoria, BC when I was 9 and have lived here since.  The ocean recharges me and I spend as much time at the beach as possible with my husband, our two children and our loyal dog, Luna (who comes to work with me from time to time).  When I'm not at the beach I can usually be found crocheting or knitting up a storm!
